SMTMCG Meeting at SMT/AMS 2004, Seattle

All interested SMT members are invited to attend the meeting of the Music Cognition Group (MCG) at the upcoming conference in Seattle (Thursday, November 11, 5:00pm-7:00pm). The MCG Steering Committee has decided that we will discuss the following article, which won the SMT's Outstanding Publication Award for 2002 --

Huron, David (2001). Tone and Voice: A Derivation of the Rules of Voice-leading from Perceptual Principles. MUSIC PERCEPTION 19/1, 1-64.

The article may also be found on the web --

While we hope that participants will read this article and to bring a copy to our Interest Group Meeting, those who have not done so are still welcome to attend.

MCG brings together members of SMT with interests in theoretical and experimental work in music perception and cognition. A website and an electronic discussion list help the members stay in touch, share ideas, and organize session proposals for SMT conferences. The website tells how to subscribe to the discussion list.
